Welcome to Ms. Bell's 2nd Grade Blog

Hello and welcome to my blog. I created this blog to keep parents informed about what is happening in our classroom. On this blog there are links for homework help, announcements and update about what is occuring in our classroom. This is provided for both parents in students in order to improve success in the class room as well as at home.

This week our class has been learning about fractions which for some children can be a difficult concept to understand and for others may seem easy to understand. In case there  is anyone that needs a review or wants to practice fractions there are links to helpful websites to the right of this post.

In Social Studies we are studying symbols and their significance to our country. For example we are studying such symbols as the American flag, the Statue of Liberty, and the bald eagle. For this lesson I am having each student will be creating a collage. I would like each student to find pictures from magazines, newspaper, and the internet that they feel represent our nation. I would also like each student to speak in front of the class about the pictures they chose and why the chose them. The due date for this project is on the  list to the left of this posting.

I hope to have a productive and fun filled week with my class. If  there are any questions or concerns please leave a commment or contact me during my planning time.
